Fighting with Paula #GR84K8 Team |
The Walk to Cure Arthritis was on May 19th, 2018. I'm a little late on writing this post, but its been a rough few weeks. The walk was incredible. Even though it rained on us like every single year, it was an incredible event. The Arthritis Foundation Long Island, NY Chapter always does an incredible job setting up for this incredible event and planning every single thing out. Looking back to my last post, this year's walk was very special for me. It was hard attending this years walk only because it was going to be a very emotional one. This year my team included many incredible people. From my family members, family friends, and my boyfriend to Kaitlyn's family and friends. This year we all walked together as my Team "Fighting with Paula" and we walked in honor of Kaitlyn. Her friends created a hashtag that we all used in honor of Kaitlyn ( #GR84K8 ) and used my team name everywhere. I created shirts for the very first time for a walk. It took me two tries to get it right and 1 week before the walk I was able to find a place that was able to create the shirt I wanted on time and at a very amazing price. Thank you CT Embroidery in Ozone Park, NY!

Front and Back of my Team Shirt |
Those who purchased a shirt helped me surpass my fundraising goal once again!! My goal was to raise $500 and I raised a total of $810 between people who donated and/or purchased a shirt. So to all of those who donated or bought a shirt, once again I thank you all!! This year I had so much going on in my personal life that I did not think I would reach my goal. But everyone who helped made it possible! To my team thank you all so much for walking with me and attending this special event with me. At this year's walk I was given the opportunity to get up on stage again, but to talk about my dear friend Kaitlyn. It was a very emotional moment, but all of my teammates gave me the strength to continue speaking. 2018's walk was increidble and I can't wait to see how next year's walk will be. I hope next year we will have a sunny walk because in all the walks I've attended, it has rained EVERY SINGLE YEAR. Here are a few pictures of my incredible teammates who attended the walk with me as well as a clip of my speech about our incredible warrior Kaitlyn Grace Hansen!
