Medical Update | Mis Últimas Noticias Médicas

Hey Everyone,

I know I have been a lost for a few weeks and haven't posted on here, but it was due to struggling with a lot of pain due to my JRA. Lately, I have been struggling a lot where I wake up in the middle of the night with massive pain all over my body. Sitting for too long would cause a lot of pain or even standing or laying down. I was taking all the Naproxen I was able to take daily and that wasn't helping. Humira, which I would make a year on March 23rd using it has not been helping either. My body took a few months to actually adjust to this new medication and I was being optimistic about it. I let my body get used to it, but in reality, it wasn't doing much for me. Today, I had an appointment with my Rheumatologist and I had wrapped my head around the idea that today's appointment wouldn't be a good one. Just how I envisioned it, the outcome wasn't full of good news. My doctor saw that my body was showing signs of pain and inflammation even in places where I never felt pain before. She decided to take me off Humira because it hasn't done much for me. So in the almost year of trying a new medication, I am switched off meds once again.

Another appointment that had me shed tears, not because I was in pain, but more due to disappointment for the simple fact my treatment was not helping me. My doctor saw my concern and said we would have to try something else to see if I would feel better. In order to get some type of relief, I was prescribed the most hated medication everyone diagnosed with JRA has dealt with at least once... PREDNISONE. I was mentally prepared to hear my doctor to suggest that medication so I could feel relief from all this pain, but deep down inside I didn't want to hear that come out of her mouth. For 20 days I will be taking prednisone. Thankfully it's not for a longer period of time, but it will be a long 20 days for me. For the first 5 days I will be taking 4 tablets daily of 5MG. Then 3 tablets for the following 5 days, then 2 tablets for 5 days and then 1 tablet for the last 5 days. On Monday I will be starting my new treatment. I have seen so many TV commercials about this new treatment, but I never really paid attention to what this treatment was about. I will be starting XELJANZ XR. XELJANZ is a JAK inhibitors. What this means is that its another type of DMARD (same as Methotrexate). A JAK inhibitor are shown to help reduce pain and swelling in the joints and it slows down the progression of joint damage. A JAK inhibitor work deep inside the actual cell to disrupt the signaling pathways between the cells of the immune system that are believed to play a role in the inflammation associated with RA. This medication can work alone and has been proven to reduce RA pain, swelling, and joint damage without the need of methotrexate. The difference between XELJANZ and XELJANZ XR is that XR is a once-daily pill instead of having to take two pills daily. Also, XELJANZ is 5mg per pill when XELJANZ XR is 11mg per pill. Something that got my attention right away when I started

Zeljanz XR
researching online about the medication was that the XELJANZ bottle cap was awarded the Arthritis Foundation's Ease-of-Use Commendation award (which is obviously my FAVORITE foundation EVER).  The Arthritis Foundation's Ease-of-Use Commendation recognizes products proven to make life easier for people have arthritis and other physical limitations. Monday will be a new start for me. I can't say im not afraid or nervous because I really am. I have so many thoughts going through my mind, but I know I should be as positive as I can be. I just fear that I will go another year with really bad pain and not get any better and actually get worse than I've ever been. After blood work and getting the news that after 12 years of injecting my medication, I will no longer inject any mediltio unless my XELJANZ XR doesn't work for me. For me this is a big change and an amazing start because no matter how many injections I've had to deal with, you just NEVER adjust to them. February 26th, 2018 will be a new beginning for me on this crazy life living with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. If anyone has taken this medication and would like to tell me their experience, please reach out to me. I would love to hear feedback on this new medication.

Hola Todos,

Mis primos y mi hermanito me dejaron como
Ultimate Warrior! - Pastillas Prednisona
Se que he estado muy perdida por unas semanas porque he tenido mucho dolor. He tenido tanto dolor
